The Walk to Emmaus is a spiritual renewal program intended to strengthen the local church through the development of Christian disciples and leaders. The program's approach seriously considers the model of Christ's servanthood and encourages Christ's disciples to act in ways appropriate to being "a servant of all."

September Newsletter

I hope this newsletter finds you in the grace and peace of God.

It was so good to have been able to share our 20 year and Chrysalis 15 year

celebration with so many of you.

Thank you too for coming to share in this milestone with us!

We are approaching that time of the year, when we call for volunteer forms

for the 2015 Walks.  Team selection will be meeting on 25th October and it

would be such a blessing to receive your form before then. Please visit the

website for your volunteer form, which gives you your training dates as well.

I realize that it is a busy time of the year.  It seems like we, as Gods children,

keep adding more to our cross than what we can handle. We have to turn to

God in order to find out what God really wants on our cross. I am asking for

you to let God lead you and remember how important the Walk you went

on was to you. We are going to need a lot of volunteers this year with 4 Walks

and an Alarga stroll planned; I pray that God will let you remember and

bring you back to serve the pilgrims that will be on the Walks and the Stroll.

It is a great blessing to serve and feel the Spirit move.

Sponsoring a pilgrim for 2015 Walks.

“The strength of any Emmaus Community is a direct result of that

Community’s recruiting practices. If the Community is committed to

recruiting strong Church leaders for the purpose of strengthening the local

Church, then the Community will be a strong, vital force in the renewal

movement. If, on the other hand, the Walk to Emmaus is looked upon, as

a hospital where every human ill can be cured, it will have a weakening

effect on the entire Community. Emmaus is designed to spiritually renew

Church members who, in turn, can Christianize their environments. The

Church is a vital part of the renewal effort. If strong Church members are

recruited to attend Emmaus Walk, the Emmaus Community will provide

authentic spiritual renewal.” (Day Four Book, page 51)

We are praying you sponsor a pilgrim during 2015.

Pray for the Lord’s guidance as to who He wants you to sponsor and

then you are ready!

All forms are available on the website – please read these carefully.

Keep in mind: The Walk to Emmaus is ecumenical and persons may

attend without their pastor’s participation. Married couples are encouraged

to make equal commitment, where possible.

Rev. Stephen Bryant, first Director of Walk to Emmaus, feels that Emmaus

depends on “ordinary” Christians sharing God’s love by working together

in the spirit of Christ, guiding people into a deeper realization of God’s

love supporting one another in their decision to walk in the grace of Jesus

Christ, and sacrificing to make the weekend possible. Won’t you be a sponsor?

We, as a community, need to recommit to the Walk and lift it up in the name

of Jesus Christ. We have grown God’s kingdom with this tool during the past

20 years.  Please do what you can in sponsoring and please attend the Walks

and make yourself available to serve.

Also remember the Board positions that need to be filled at our AGM.

Please prayerfully consider nominating members for the following positions –

Treasurer and Prayer and agape

Nomination forms and information are available from Wendy Warr –

We are looking forward to seeing you all at the

AGM gathering on 15th November 2014 at All Saints United Church,

Chrysalis will be holding their 2015 Flights over the weekend of 2- 5 July and

their team selection committee will meet on the 25th October – all forms are

on the KZN Drak Chrysalis website. Please give prayerful consideration to

joining a team.

May God keep his arms around you and continue blessing you with great joy.
